(2) Paint.net A very good overall open-source program, similar to MS Paint and with a very good convert-to-sketch function.

One of our first objectives is to become familiar with
what have become known as "Photo-to-Sketch" Converters. There are
several available as either low cost or open source and free programs.
There should be no need to take chances with on-line converters. For this
project, Fotosketcher has been chosen. The interface is seen, below:
